Lakeshore Baptist Church was begun following a two week revival conducted by, D. W. Nix, and J. T. Hinke, under a tent on property now owned by our congregation. 

      Our church was constituted with 30 charter members on July 25, 1954 in the Daddy Flowers Chapel of the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home. We worshiped under the tent for three months. A. L. New, District Missionary, assisted in the pulpit ministry. On October 1, 1954 there were 47 church members, 65 enrolled in Sunday School, 35 in Training Union and 12 in WMU.

   Bro. Vester Headrick began as our first pastor on November 7, 1954. He preached his first sermon in our first building which was still under construction. Following Bro. Headrick's death in September of 1976 Bro. Robert Peek served as interim pastor.

   On May 15, 1977 Bro. William L. Smith accepted the call to be our second pastor. Bro. Smith began his ministry on the first Sunday of July and is now in his 32nd year as our pastor.

   Our involvement in many different ministry projects gives testimony to the dedication to outreach and ministry

• One of the first to support the Store Front Ministry  in downtown Monroe which later became the Berean Baptist Mission.
• Among the first supporters of Christian Community Ministries.
• Past cosponsor of Topsy Baptist Mission which is now Topsy Baptist Church near Lake Charles, Louisiana.
• Past cosponsor of Memorial Baptist Mission in Monroe which is now Memorial Baptist Church.
• Conducts weekly Bible Studies at St. Francis Nursing Home and Avalon Place Nursing Home.
• Supports new church growth by sending volunteers to help construct new churches.
• Ministers to church families through the Deacon Family Minsitry Plan.
• Has active ministries focused on Preschoolers, Children, Youth, and Adults.
• Ministers through the Homebound Program to those who are unable to attend church.
• Is a host church in the Family Promise Ministry of Ouachita Parish. 

   As a church affiliated with the local association, the state convention and the Southern Baptist Convention, we are given the opportunity to extend our ministries and witness beyond our area fulfilling the commission of our Lord found in Acts 1:8.

   As we labor together the future is still bright and the fields are "White unto harvest."
